Heritability of william's
How It Happens
- Most cases of William's are not inherited, they occur as random events during the formation of sex cells (sperm or eggs) within the parent of the affected individual.
- William's syndrome most often occurs to individuals with no family history of the disorder. However regardless of their family history, someone with William's has a 50% chance of passing on the syndrome to his or her child.
